Indian girls come cropper in BRICS U-17 Football Tourney

India came a cropper in the BRICS Under-17 Women Football Tournament, losing all four of their league matches in the five-nation tournament, held at Johannesburg in South Africa from July 18.

Led by Soumya Guguloth, India lost to South Africa 1-5, Russia 1-3, Brazil 0-5 and China 1-2. Overall, India scored three goals in the tournament, while conceding as many as 15.

Shukla Dutta was the Head Coach of the Indian team. Former India captain and AFC B-License coach Sradhanjali Samantray of Odisha functioned as the assistant coach.

July 18:
India (Vanlalhriattiri) lost to South Africa 1-5.
July 19: India (Souyma Guguloth 6`) lost to Russia 1-3.
July 21: India lost to Brazil 0-5
July 22: India (Manisha 25’) lost to China 1-2.
